GLIPH

Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Welcome to GLIPH. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data in an open and transparent manner. Please note that GLIPH is currently in a beta phase, meaning the service is under active development and may undergo changes. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website gliph.us (the "Site") and use our services (the "Service"). Please read this policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not access the Site or use our Service.

2. Information We Collect

We collect various types of information in connection with the services we provide, including:

  • Personal Data: Information that can be used to identify you, such as your name, email address, payment information (processed securely by third-party payment processors), and credit usage and transaction history. We collect this when you register for an account, subscribe to our services, or contact us. Feedback and Learning Data: User corrections, quality ratings, and feedback provided through our interface to improve glyph extraction accuracy. This data is associated with the specific extraction parameters used and helps our system learn and improve over time.
  • Usage Data: Information about how you access and use the Service, including your IP address, browser type, operating system, referral sources, pages viewed, and the dates/times of your visits. This helps us understand user behavior and improve our Service.
  • Content Data: Any glyph sheets, images, or other content you upload to our Service for processing, including font files generated through our AI processing. We process this data to provide the core functionality of GLIPH (e.g., font extraction and vectorization).

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To provide, operate, and maintain our Service.
  • To process your transactions and manage your subscriptions, including tracking and managing your credit usage and subscription billing.
  • To improve, personalize, and expand our Service.
  • To understand and analyze how you use our Service.
  • To develop new products, services, features, and functionality.
  • To train and improve our AI extraction and vectorization algorithms, specifically for the purpose of enhancing the service provided to you, and not for general model training or public dissemination of your content.
  • To communicate with you, either directly or through one of our partners, including for customer service, to provide you with updates and other information relating to the Service, and for marketing and promotional purposes.
  • To find and prevent fraud.
  • For compliance with legal obligations. 3.1 Learning Algorithm Training We use your feedback data (corrections, ratings, and manual edits) exclusively to improve the accuracy of our OCR and vectorization algorithms for your benefit and the benefit of other users. This feedback is anonymized and associated only with technical parameters, not personal identifiers. We do not use your uploaded content or generated fonts to train general-purpose AI models or share this data with third parties for their model training.

4. Sharing Your Information

We may share your information in the following situations:

  • With Service Providers: We may share your information with third-party vendors, service providers, contractors, or agents who perform services for us or on our behalf, such as payment processing, data analysis, email delivery, hosting services, customer service, marketing assistance, and AI processing services for glyph extraction and vectorization.
  • For Business Transfers: We may share or transfer your information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business to another company.
  • Affiliates: We may share your information with our affiliates, in which case we will require those affiliates to honor this Privacy Policy.
  • Legal Obligations: We may disclose your information where we are legally required to do so in order to comply with applicable law, governmental requests, a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process, such as in response to a court order or a subpoena (including in response to public authorities to meet national security or law enforcement requirements).
  • To Protect Our Rights: We may disclose your information where we believe it is necessary to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding potential violations of our policies, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the safety of any person and illegal activities, or as evidence in litigation in which we are involved.

5. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational security measures designed to protect the security of any personal information we process. However, despite our safeguards and efforts to secure your information, no electronic transmission over the Internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, so we cannot promise or guarantee that hackers, cybercriminals, or other unauthorized third parties will not be able to defeat our security and improperly collect, access, steal, or modify your information. 5.1 Browser-Based Data Storage Our service uses local browser storage (including IndexedDB, localStorage, and Cache API) to store learning data and improve performance. This data remains on your device and is not automatically transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly share feedback. You can clear this local data through your browser settings at any time.

6. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • The right to access, update, or delete the information we have on you.
  • The right to rectify your personal data if it is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • The right to object to our processing of your personal data.
  • The right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal data.
  • The right to data portability.
  • The right to withdraw consent at any time where GLIPH relied on your consent to process your personal information.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details provided below. Before requesting account deletion, users are advised to download and export any created fonts or content they wish to retain, as deleted content may not be recoverable.

7. Third-Party Websites

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services that are not owned or controlled by GLIPH. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party websites or services. We strongly advise you to read the terms and conditions and privacy policies of any third-party websites or services that you visit.

8. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 ("Children"). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from Children. If you become aware that a Child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from Children without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.

10. Data Retention

We retain uploaded glyph sheets, processed font files, and associated user data for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide you with our services. If you delete your account, your personal data will be deleted or anonymized within a reasonable timeframe, typically 30 days, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. Content data (uploaded glyph sheets and generated fonts) associated with a deleted account will be permanently removed from our active servers. Backup copies may exist for a limited period (e.g., 90 days) for disaster recovery purposes but will not be accessible. 10.1 Learning Data Retention Anonymized feedback and learning data used to improve our algorithms may be retained longer than personal data to maintain system performance improvements. This data cannot be linked back to individual users or accounts and helps ensure the service continues to improve for all users.

If you access our service from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States where our servers are located. By using our service, you consent to the transfer of information to the U.S. and other countries that may have different privacy laws than your country of residence.
